| Mary,
Mary, Bloody Mary
Made in 1975, one year before George Romero’s
“Martin” hit cinema screens, this
creative Mexican horror production presented the
idea of the vampire as a human, suffering with
the need for blood.
Directed by Alejandro Jodorowsky cohort Juan Lopez
Moctezuma, who had previously created the whacked
out horror classic “Mansion of Madness”
& would soon direct the amazing “Alucarda”,
this film contains the style of shock and sex
that would become associated with his work. But
under the sensationalism is a truly tragic story
of addiction and loss, involving the title character
and her lonely need for blood to survive. A true
lost slasher classic!
