ACAPULCO
GOLD
Made in 1973,
this independently produced documentary deals with the subject
of marijuana harvesting, cultivation, transportation, distribution
and finally inhalation in the United States. The bulk of the
film is constructed as a series of adventures by a group of
college guys using cameras to document their investigations
into how to secure a large supply of marijuana. They interview
various American growers ('experts'), test 'wild' marijuana
in the American mid-West, then travel to Mexico to seek out
the 'super weed' cultivated in the hills outside of Acapulco,
eventually smuggling it into the States.

KAUFMAN "STICK AROUND"
TV pilot for the never before
aired show Stick Around starring Andy Kaufman as Andy
the robot, a servant robot in the near future. Using the voice
that would one day become the signature voice of Latka Gravas

charisma, humor and innocence. Believe us, there is a good reason
this show never made it to TV; but for Andy fans, it is a true

KAUFMAN ON FRIDAYS VOL. 1
Now is your chance to see
the most infamous moment in the bizarre career of Andy Kaufman!
For those who don't remember, Fridays was ABC's attempt to compete
with NBC's hugely popular Saturday Night Live. The only problem
was Fridays wasn't a very good show, kind of like what Saturday
Night Live is now. So to boost ratings, the producers asked
Andy Kaufman to be a guest host. Andy agreed, but only if he
could come up with some acts of his own. The rest is TV history!
This tape contains the full hour-long live TV appearance Andy
made on Fridays as host. See him wreak havoc on the set and
cause a live fight between himself and the cast, plus a lot
more! Amazing stuff to say the least. This video contains original
commercials.

KAUFMAN ON FRIDAYS VOL. 2
You'd think the producers
of Fridays would have wanted to keep Andy Kaufman off of the
show after the insanity his first appearance created, but in
a guaranteed move to help boost the failing shows ratings, they
once again asked Kaufman to come back and host. He took them
up on their offer, but only if he could write some extensive
material for the show. With their hands tied, the producers
said yes. The performance he delivered is what many Kaufmanites
consider his finest hour. Andy hosted the entire show as a born
again Christian, complete with gospel sing along's, moral posturing
and the introduction of his Christian fiancée! In the
realm of conceptual comedy, it doesn’t get any better
or more original than this. Special features: Andy’s rarely
seen New Years episode appearance

BIRTH
OF ELECTRONIC MUSIC
This disc starts off with
a two-part filmstrip detailing the history of electronic music.
Part one looks at the history from 400 BC to 1950. Part two
picks up in the 50's and takes us into the early 70's. Profiling
such artists as Paul Hindemith, Walter (Wendy) Carlos, and such
electronic instruments as the Dynamaphone and the Ondes Martenot.
Following this is the truly amazing Sid Laverents' outsider
film Multiple SIDosis. Made in 1969, the film finds
Sid waking up Christmas morning to discover that his wife has
given him a Akai M8 reel to reel recording deck. Sid immediately
begins recording a multi tracked version of his song Nola.
The film has a strange almost psychedelic quality once Sid reaches
his full multi track recording abilities. Needles to say, this
a must see work of bizarro art.

The C.H.i.Ps TAPE

CONFESSIONS
OF A BLUE MOVIE STAR
The film begins as a documentary about the making of a porno
film. During the 14-day shoot the leading lady, Claudia Fielers,
commits suicide. Quickly the film goes from documenting a porno
film production to documenting a snuff film. An un credited
narrator equates Fielers’ suicide and the very business
of pornography to that of snuff filmmaking while an unexpected
Hell’s Angel biker, wearing a paper bag over his head,
introduces “real snuff” footage (which is actually
nothing more than Last House on the Left out takes!).
As the documentary progresses, facts become more and more muddled
and the actual authenticity of it grows more and more questionable.
It’s hard to tell once the film concludes whether or not
we have just seen a documentary or a mockumentary. No matter
what the film is, it's certainly fascinating to watch unfold,
without a doubt a near genre unto itself.

Drugs,
Gangs & Honesty
This collection of weird morality tales features “Drugs
Don’t Make It”, “How Honest are You”
& “Gang Boy”.
“Drugs Don’t Make It”: Like “Circus
With The Stars” only there are drugs and burnouts instead
of a circus. Made in the mid 80’s, this living nightmare
is a “say no to drugs” campaign featuring such big
name stars as Sylvester Stallone, Michael Jordan, Chuck Woolery
& even Ed Winter, who was Col. Flagg on “Mash”!
All of these people tell you how bad drugs are along with many
everyday losers who fell prey to the trap of drugs and are now
clean and sober. We hear about people overdosing, sleeping in
a garbage can, going into prostitution and even spending time
in jail!
“How Honest are You: Made in 1950 this educational short,
produced by Coronet, tells the story of Bob, the star of the
high school basketball team. He is accused of stealing money
from another player’s locker. It looks like Bob is screwed
until the surprise twist ending that puts a whole new spin on
things! Gosh!
“Gang Boy”: Produced by Sid Davis in 1954, this
docudrama tells the story of Mexican & Anglo gangs in southern
California who call a truce and work to better their neighborhoods.

EXHIBITION
From the director of Clockwork Banana Jean-Francis Davy &
starring the Linda Lovelace of French porno Claudine Beccarie,
Exhibition was the first hard-core porno film to be screened
at the New York Film Festival in 1975 and it was marketed under
the tagline “The First Film to Break the Censorship Barrier
of U.S. Customs”. Exhibition is much more a documentary
with hardcore scenes than it is a hardcore film and lucky for
the viewer, it is an engaging and interesting documentary. It’s
a documentary on the French porno industry and more so it is
a documentary on that industries biggest star at the time, Beccarie.
We learn about her views on sexual liberation her childhood
fantasies, where she sees herself in the future and more. We
also get a look at the making of a porno film and the distribution
of the film as well. The film also features “man on the
street” interviews that discus adult film with regular
people on the Paris streets

examples of Bacon’s painting and is accompanied by a

obscure documentary is director Mitsuo Yanagimachi's first film.
Documenting the exploits of the Japanese biker gang, The Black
Emperors, from their "club" meetings to some near
rumbles with other bike gangs, the film crew is allowed into
just about every aspect of the gang’s existence. Watching
this film certainly shows the vast difference between Japanese
bikers and American bikers which happens to be a monumental
difference with the Japanese gangs seeming more like a social
club than a lifestyle. Turned into a much sought after cult
film thanks to the band of the same name, this subtle documentary
is certainly deserving of its new found fame.

HARRY
NILSSON COLLECTON
This amazing collection of
Harry Nilsson footage is the true crown jewel for any Nilsson
fan. Starting with the supposedly lost documentary “Did
Somebody Drop His Mouse?” which documents the recording
of Nilsson’s landmark classic follow up LP Son of Schmilsson.
The film features Peter Frampton, Ringo Starr, Bobby Keys and
more. As a documentary it really doesn’t work, as it feels
more like snippets of home movie footage detailing the recording
of the record, but the candid voice over narration of Nilsson
and his producer Richard Perry make for some very intriguing
and essential stuff for Nilsson fans.
Also on this disc is a great TV special Nilsson did around the
release of “Nilsson Schmilsson” featuring just him
and a piano, and needless to say it is a truly wonderful show,
filled with absolutely brilliant melody and sarcasm.

Well, here's the video they filmed to explain their agenda and
prove that they are correct and on the right track. The best
part about this video is that instead of declaring their doctrine
to be true and fact while damning all other religion and civilization,
the leader simply says, "I'm really sorry about this, but
I'm God." Spend an hour with a creepy old man who eventually

LEE
HAZLEWOOD: COWBOY IN SWEDEN
Made
in 1970, this Swedish TV production is a surreal variety show
packaged around songs from the Lee Hazlewood album of the same
name. The narrative (if you can call it that) is divided up
into different dream segments that take us through various exploits
with Hazlewood around Sweden. Some of them are musical and some
of them just simply involve Lee telling stories about various
elements of Swedish culture, ranging from subjects as mundane
as the weather and local festivals to cultural highlights such
as the Nobel Price and Ingmar Bergman.
Fans of Mr. Hazlewood will eat this stuff up and if you don’t
already have a fondness for his velvety, South Western tones,
this is a great place to fall in love.

MORMONS
& SWINGERS: AN INTRODUCTION TO THE LIFESTYLES
Prepare
yourself for a mind-bending journey into two very secretive
and secluded organizations, Mormons & Swingers!
First is a collection of 18 (!) short films dealing with various
Mormon issues, such as “Fortifying Your Family”,
“The Joy of Missionary Work”, “Family Communication”
& “Honesty Leads to Integrity”. Mixing live
Mormon Church sermons with narrative filmmaking, the collection
is a surreal mix of morality and xenophobic tales of fear,
concern and general social anxiety.
Next up is an incredible documentary filmed during the 1998
Lifestyle convention, held in Las Vegas, Nevada. Watch as
totally weirded out couples talk about the wonders and benefits
of embracing the swinger’s lifestyle. Hear how and why
they decided to adopt the swingers lifestyle, see their incredibly
bad fashion choices explode on the screen, watch uncertain
facial expressions abound and hear one man use the phrase
“Turns my crank”, listen to one woman make reference
to how “that time of the month” affects her swinging
abilities and more!
Do we really need to say that this is a must see disc?!

MOTEL
Produced
in 1989, Motel is a documentary about three mom & pop
run motels in the South Western United States. The movie is
directed by Christian Blackwood, who was the cinematographer
on the film Thelonius Monk: Straight, No Chaser, as well as
director of documentaries on Roger Corman, John Huston &
the Sundance Grand Prize winning film Private Conversations:
On the Set of `Death of a Salesman’. With Motel Blackwood
seems to have a knack for capturing real life as it is, without
any filter or ego, and that is what makes the movie so special.
The stark, open setting and the easy going honesty of the
subjects give the film a very personal feel even though it
never really seems to be taking any kind of objective view
of anyone or anything featured on screen. In many ways it
feels like a Frederick Wiseman film, the biggest difference
being that in Wiseman’s world social institutions are
usually the subjects of interest and in this film we are spending
time in a capitalistic environment. A highly recommended,
little seen gem that captures America in a very pure way!

OUR
ENEMY: THE JAPANESE
After
Pearl Harbor the Japanese became public enemy #1 in the United
States and this collection of vintage propaganda films shows
the various ways our government used the medium of film to
view the Japanese as a race of raging lunatics out for our
blood. Ranging from insanely racist works like “Our
Enemy – The Japanese” to the almost mundane attempt
at understanding another culture “Children of Japan”,
this collection shows how the eventually dropping of the atomic
bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki became an almost afterthought
in the minds of most Americans.

PERVERSION
FOR PROFIT
Produced
by financier Charles Keating (who once said Russ Meyer was
the most dangerous man in America) and narrated by long time
LA TV news man George Putnam. This film links pornography
to Communist conspiracies, the deterioration of America's
youth, and the creation of homosexuals. Pornography is destroying
our way of life! Putman goes into great detail about numerous
sexual fetishes and behaviors like the extreme spiked heel;
the tight boot; the burning cigarette; the laced leather garment;
worship of the whip; the riding crop; and rubber garments.”
Also included: Boys Beware - an anti-gay education short
that teaches boys how to avoid those creepy molesters, 1961;
The ABCs of Sex Education for Trainable Persons, an educational
short made for teachers who assist the developmentally handicapped.

film for police officers offering advice if they are confronted
by a mentally ill criminal. How to deal with a woman who thinks
her heart is missing and her nose is growing; how to stop a
mad bomber before he strikes; how to handle crazy, mixed up
drug fueled teenagers. This disc also features Symptoms
in Schizophrenia, an industrial film made in 1935 detailing
the behaviors of institutionalized schizophrenics. Also included,

person in a time of danger. Made in 1960, this film is a great
time capsule of the era. Other short films on this disc include:
Don't Talk to Strangers; Police Dogs in Action; Profile

PSYCHEDELIC
ROCK EXPLOSION!
Produced in 1983, You’re Gonna Miss Me is a wonderfully
trippy & laid back documentary on the trials and tribulations
of arguably the world’s first psychedelic rock band, The
13th Floor Elevators. Not to be confused with the very professional
2005 documentary of the same name, this one has a very authentic,
down and dirty quality that plays more like a love letter to
the band and focuses primarily on first hand accounts told by
members of the band and close friends. A must see rarity for
fans of Roky Erickson & psychedelic music in general.
Also on this disc is rare concert footage of The Pretty Things

RELIGIOUS
HUMOR: THE ANTI-COMEDY
When
you think of comedy, or funny in general, religious humor is
typically the last thing that comes to mind. Well there seems
to be a very good reason for that! Religious humor feels more
like a test of faith by fire than funny. Don’t believe
us? Check out this abominable collection of religious humor
and paranoid preaching’s!
Starting off with what is not traditionally considered a comedy,
“Spirit of the Serpent” is an expose of a controversial
preacher whose methods send his congregation into fits of laughter
and hysterics that usually involve people falling on the floor
and running around like crazy people.
The next two installments on the disc involve religious stand
up comedians that must be a representation of what they play
on ALL TV channels in Hell.
The pain will set you free!

ROCK?
IT'S YOUR DECISION
The amazing Christian propaganda film, Rock? It's
Your Decision focuses on the evils of rock music. See young
Jeff ignore his mother and his preacher as he turns to the evil
pleasures of really bad 70's rock. Apparently rock leads to
all things bad: suicide, drug use, and amazingly awful fashion.
One of the most famous and wonderful of all Christian scare
films, this one really packs on the preachy moments; going as
far as showing a fully converted Jeff telling his rock n’
roll friends they are nothing by evil sinners, living the devil’s
life of rock debauchery. Also on this disc is the jaw dropping
video, Ms. Velma’s Most Incredibly Magnificent Christmas
Week! Ms. Velma, a whacked out LA evangelist, with her
far-out costumes, teaches that beauty and fashion go hand and
hand with the Lord. This bonus is sure to be played at Christmas
for all your friends who love weirdo videos. It's beautiful,
it's ridiculous, it's bad, and it's great! See her 45 year old
male "youth" choir perform Hawaiian songs at Christmas!
Marvel at the 4th of July spectacle, balloon popping, and indian
headwear. Will Ms. Velma accidentally drive off the stage in
her tiny clown car? It's sure to warm your heart and melt your
brain. Your Christmas can't be complete without this.

SANDSTONE
This very 70’s, home movie like documentary chronicles
the goings on at the Sandstone Retreat, a 15 acre estate in
the Santa Monica Mountains. Sandstone was a clothing optional,
open sexuality resort that was written about in the Joy of Sex.
Many of the residents partook in the swinger’s lifestyle,
while some just enjoyed the freedom of the nudist environment,
and this documentary shows both sects of people living with
the resort in full harmony. One of the more memorable residents
of Sandstone is the traveling gynecologist who has a mobile
examination table set up inside his van, complete with mirrors
so the patient can watch what he’s doing! Then there is
the young couple whom we follow from their arrival, to their
sampling of the recreation, to the man’s decision to withdraw,
only to discover that his wife has been more popular than he
is, and scored more often. What follows is an argument, as he
tries to force her to leave, she has become quite comfortable
and doesn’t want to talk to him about it at all. Sandstone
has a truly intimate, “as it happens” feel that
makes for great, time capsule viewing. A truly entertaining
and naturalistic documentary about a long lost place in time.

SERGE
GAINSBOURG COLLECTION
Featuring an exhaustive plethora of live clips and interviews,
this two hour collection is a must own for any Serge fan. Starting
off with a very early TV performance, the disc burns through
the years of brilliant musical output in chronological order
giving the viewer the proper setting to take in Gainsbourg’s
continually blossoming gifts as a songwriter. See his work with
protégés France Gall & Francoise Hardy, as
well as duets with Bridgett Bardot and wife Jane Birkin. One
of the most intriguing moments on the disc is a lip synched
performance of songs from Histoire de Melody Nelson
in which Gainsbourg stands on an empty stage with a seemingly
indifferent stare, smoking cigarettes when he should be singing.
Needless to say, this collection is a true treat for fans of
Serge Gainsbourg and French pop music in general.

SPACE
COAST
Many
American documentaries have focused on the loss of the American
dream, or even the loss of basic American necessities, like
jobs, infrastructure and economic stability. Films like “Roger
& Me”, “Motel” & “Enron: The
Smartest Guys in the Room” all take their stabs at the
downfall of the American dream and it’s inevitable effect
on a region's populace. But nothing has ever really captured
the absolute weirdness, pain and anxiety of struggling in society
like the 1979 documentary “Space Coast”, which details
what happened to many of the residents of Cape Canaveral, Florida
who were once part of the NASA machine, who later found their
careers and lives abandoned by the beach, left scratching for
work and crumbs.
The film follows three residents, all with a very different,
but equally tragic story to tell, ranging from an out of work
maintenance man turned motorcycle gang leader to a local TV
clown kids show host.
This is must see stuff for those who like their reality weird,
raw and unfiltered!

STUPID
SAFETY
Safety
films generally seem to be anything but informative about
safety. They typically take the stance that their audience
is so stupid, even the most rudimentary elements of personal
preservation need to be covered, leaving the end product a
source of ridicule rather than required safety viewing. You
may think we mean this to be a negative point, but in reality,
who doesn’t love stupid safety films?! This collection

TEENAGE
SUICIDE/NUTRITION
Do you remember an 80's TV show called That Teen Show?
Yeah, we don't either. That may have something to do with the
fact that it was so bad it was cancelled after one episode.
And this is that amazing episode! Apparently someone thought
the best way to capture the interest of the after school special
crowd was to have Haywood Nelson a.k.a. Dwayne Nelson from TV's
What's Happening talk to Hervé Villechaize a.k.a.
Tattoo from TV's Fantasy Island about his many attempted
suicides and how he learned to love life. The irony of this
is the fact that Hervé did finally commit suicide 10
years after appearing on this show. The rest of the program
is devoted to depressed kids explaining their failed suicide
attempts and how other kids shouldn't’t follow in their
footsteps. Also on this disc is the great 1970's educational
film All American Meal, which tries to figure out exactly
why the "all American meal" has become a hamburger,
